For over a decade I’ve loved finding and supporting new talent, the latest find I have to share with you came from visiting a one man exhibit at a local gallery, There I run into a multi-media artist whose creative is selling for hundreds of dollars and…he’s just 17… I get into a conversation with him and he tells me he also creates music too. The artist is Andrew Gayter.. Imagine if we knewhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif David Byrne at 17 and you get an idea of this guy.

He sends me his music and overall I was pretty impressed. I decided to feature some of his tracks for you to check out over the holiday weekend as part of New Music Friday.

You can visit andrewgayter.com and check out the full tracks reviewed at his soundcloud site (http://soundcloud.com/agayter11">here) where you can check out the creative process as Gayter formulates and builds his music, which he writes, sings and performs.

Through his music you will find a range of styles from anthemic electronic synth like No regrets to the driving beat of Blue Pill which takes early Emerson Lake and Palmer synthesizer expertise into a 21st Century composition to Grandpa Town which has a Chill kind of vibe that you could hear playing in the Delano on South Beach. Gayter song the Corrupters marries Daft Punk to Christiano Spiller with anew style use of beats that brings a great fresh sound to well done effect and song parts.

Height of Man is one of my favs and it will be one of your too if you are a fan of New Order, more music in this style could spell a hit for Gayter in the future.

For those of us who grew up with the creativity of Kraftwerk his music takes that creativity and rhythm and soundscapes for the 21st century.

As I mentioned at the start of the review, something about Gayter reminds me of David Byrne, from his creative quirky videos to a music style that has a pop sense with nod to newer music styles including dub step and grime step. Maybe Gayter will follow the path of Byrne and assemble some fellow creatives when he goes off college to create a band that leave a mark on this generation as the Talking Heads did nearly forty years ago! The Brit Awards, are the biggest date on the pop music calendar. This year celebrating its 30th birthday. Was proud to again be a part of the nominating panel for the Brits Big Three Oh.

Lily Allen, Lady Gaga and Cheryl Cole are all set to perform in an ever-glitzy ceremony that has this year been branded “the battle of the babes”, with Allen, Lady Gaga, Pixie Lott and Florence and the Machine all up for three gongs.

A pre-recorded message from Prince Harry on the value of the Brits is also to be aired.

Tonight's ceremony include two duets; Alicia Keys with Jay-Z, and Florence Welch with Dizzee Rascal, and an Outstanding Contribution to Music award going to Robbie Williams, who is to close the show after collecting his 16th Brit.

It's Ted Kelly with a quick update: You may recall that Upop first debuted The Black Eyed Peas to a global audience and we had them in the studio for an exclusive UPop performance for XM. At that time I had no idea that Fergie began her acting career as the voice of Sally on the Saturday morning cartoon The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show in 1983, then she became the voice of Lucy, as well as on two TV specials: I's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown (1984) and Snoopy's Getting Married, Charlie Brown (1985). I wanted to share that with you because voice talent can literally come from anywhere at anytime. For Fergie she was a voice talent as her entre to TV career and here current status as a global pop star. Music For A Purpose Charity Concert August 23rd

A while back Zoltar, Dee Dee, Stephan and I created Music For a Purpose.org as a concert production and event promotion company that raises funds for regional and national charities. You may recall we did the Music For Myanmar concert for the Burmese cyclone victoms. Funds from the seven hour concert went to American Red Cross International Disaster Relief. Now we are doing the 2008 CAN JAM to benefite the Capital Area Food Bank (read details here) August 23rd at Saphire Cafe in Bethesda Maryland. The thirteen hour concert starts at noon and features everyone from Shane Himes to Luke Brindley to Steve Palmer Band Zoltar spinning great dance music starting at 9PM. After wowing his Spanish fans with a string of gigs, crooner Marc Anthony has turned his attentions towards yet another Mediterranean country - Italy. Together with beautiful wife Jennifer Lopez and their baby twins Emme and Max, the singer jetted to Milan earlier this week - where he also picked up an honourary award.

In town for his first ever performance in Italy - at a festival celebrating Latin American culture - the new dad was feted in front of an audience that included fashion design maestro Stefano Gabbana as proud Jennifer looked on.

"We wanted to honor him for his unquestionable artistic value," enthused a Milanese councillor. "And also thank him for having chosen Milan for his first ever concert in Italy."

Ted Kelly can report that while Marc was prepping for his performances J-Lo was hitting the city's famous shops. She's been spotted stocking up on baby clothes for her four-month-old twins.

Mark Ronson and Duran Duran - A Possible Collabo...?

Duran Duran keyboard player has revealed that his band would like the opportunity to tackle the new James Bond theme with Mark Ronson.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the keyboardist said it was an ambition of theirs to work with the super-producer on the tune for 'Quantum Of Solace'.

"We'd love to collaborate with Mark on a single for the next Bond film," he said.

It wouldn't be the first time the band have soundtracked a Bond flick - they previously contributed the theme to the fictional spy's 1985 outing, 'A View To A Kill'.

"With him [Ronson] we may even surpass 'A View To A Kill'", Rhodes told the newspaper.

Took a few minutes to talk about Danny Federici the longtime keyboardist of The E Street Band. It was Danny who invited Bruce Springsteen to join the band he was forming in 1969 and the rest is music history. As a kid growing up in New Jersey I cannot count the amount of time I have seen the band perform. From Danny on a variety of instruments from accordians to traditional keys... He lost a three year battle with melanoama. Danny was feeling better and rejoined the band recently...Here is what became his last performance with the band on March 20th....
